This One's For Ken...

From the Guardian: Can you trust Wikipedia?

Generally, I actually find most of the criticism to be pretty inconsequential and academically snobbish; granted, I wouldn't base my thesis on a Wiki article, but basically the 'experts' in this article concede that factually it is mostly accurate, and then scramble for vague reasons why it is still 'bad' (including my favourite: "It doesn't list my book in the bibliography").

Also, given that 12-year-old boys can pick out errors in Encyclopaedia Britannica, I think the pithy attack by its former editor is pretty rich.

The question I am left with is:

Did they bother correcting it? Or did they just scoff, complain, and then turn away?

It seems like Wikipedia can only get better, and having actual experts put a little care into it would be useful.

Gil, what would they get out of it? It's hard to hold a wine and cheese about such things...
