CBC: Competitor Buyout Completed

Poor, poor English CBC television. Degrassi, the Olympics, the Junos, the Grey Cup, and now the coup de grace.

What's next: Beachcombers TNG on CTV? HGTV buying the I.P. rights to Rusty and Jerome?
Global buying the perpetual exclusive rights to boring documentaries on the Royal Family?

The tune is almost certainly going to be used on TSN.

Oh man, Habs Inside/Out just said they're going to use it during the Winter Olympic hockey games. Ew. Plus they brought up the fact it could theoretically be used on RDS for Habs games. I didn't even consider it! Maybe they can CGI Rene Lecavalier and complete the hat-trick.

CTV is going around saying they've saved the hockey song. Sickening.

Has a rival show or sportscast every stolen/used/negotiated the rights to a competitor's theme before?

Man, CBC keeps getting outmaneuvered. It's embarrassing.

Yes, the number 3 rated show from 1961, News via Bomb in a Parcel, had its theme stolen by arch-rival 60 Minutes.
