WRITERS UNITE

"Sillytech is an attempt to bring together a critical mass of sketch comedy writers using the internet. The hope is that united we can produce enough funny material to produce a new skit comedy TV show."

Dustin. I love the concept. A virtual community of sketch comedy writers in pursuit of a dream: To produce their own "skit comedy TV show". The fact that this site exists proves there is an intention to do such. The fact that writers are donating their blood and first born proves there is an interest. The fact that North America craves for something more than hashed out MadTV, Saturday Night Live and reruns of Kids In The Hall, The State, Fridays, SCTV and so on, only goes to show there will always be a market, regardless of financial backing. So I ask you, when? You all seem to be in the same locale, best buddies and have similar sense of humors. Regardless of money, what is stopping you to achieve your 'mission statement'. Curious.

Sillytech was my main hobby/side-project for a while. But babies grow older and the new child always steals away attention. The new kid being my shareware game Lux. Especially when you look at the fact that Lux is making me money now, as opposed to sillytech.

Not that I don't still love sillytech of course. I still like to spend time with her and stuff.

When it comes down to it the biggest impediment is lack of initiative. I even own a digital camcorder now. Add that with a little database of skits to choose from and a motley crew of in town humorists and the recipe is full.

My interests with filming things has been swaying towards longer scenes, with a plot or narrative, though. Perhaps I just need to return to my wacky non-sensical roots. It shouldn't be that hard to film a couple of skits. Maybe it's time to comb through the sillytech database for the funny and easily filmed.

I relate and appreciate. And on that note,
I must disappear for awhile and embark on a new, time consuming project.
I wish you and yours well. I admire your initiative and forthright execution.
I believe this to be a well structured
and necessary outlet for the budding,
as well as blossomed, sketch comedy writer. Dustin. I hope I played well.
I will continue to pass on the good word.

I think, funnyguy, that one thing that may be preventing the creation of a TV/stage show would be that everyone has got SO much on their plates. A few of the gang got together with the McGill joke newspaper and put on a show but they didn't have creative control over most of it. Many of the writers for this site are involved in improv and school and/or work, and that's probably why nothing of great import has been attempted.
I am not logged in, so I will announce that I am Chronomorph.

I have written a couple of skits i think would be used on a show like SNL. I contacted SNL and was told i have to go thru a literary agent. Anyone know of such an agent? I have been searching on the internet and can not locate anyone in the NY area.
Thanks
