One more reason why windows sucks ass

At work I use a Windows 2000 computer. Generally is it pretty decent, and it has yet to crash on me. After installing cygwin I have access to a UNIX environment as well. God bless cygwin.

However, Internet Explorer has a real pain in the ass bug where sometimes it won't wrap lines properly on comments. When they go long it will cut off some words and then wrap. What the fuck? How many years has MS had to work on IE? That there are still bugs like this is a real disappointment. Sillytech's HTML is totally kosher, and it works in other browsers. This just means that I will have to take some time and figure out an alternate way of doing what has already been done properly. In conclusion: Internet Explorer sucks ass.

Also, what's the deal with no spellchecking in web forms (like this one) I'm sure that I made a bunch of errors. Yeah, I could copy n past this into outlook, run a spellcheck there, and then copy n paste it back, but that's another pain in the ass. I want spellcheck built into the browser, just like it is in Safari.

You spend more time fixing Windows than using it? What a dumbass! What the hell are you trying to do? Recompile the kernel? Compile the source for all the programs you download? You linux evangelists never cease to amaze me.

It's true IE hasn't been updated in a while. However, it was the all-mighty saint of web developers only as recent as 1999. Back then ,Netscape was the evil browser (NN 4).

Now we have Firefox... still in release version .92, and still with its bugs.

IE is unfortunately a product of trying to mesh the technical details of computers, and the market demands of the unsavy consumer. And so it became fused with the OS.

It had its greats moments, but understandably it is showing its age.

Btw, spell checking in form fields? Please.... you can download a plug-in if you wish.

I have just discovered the UGLIEST thing an HTML developer can say about XP.

Let's say you carefully handcraft a perfectly valid (X)HTML document using a text editor such as Notepad under Win XP.

Of course we all know that by just sending it attached by email using Outlook Express, the XHTML gets lamed by OE. Of course we all know that if you try to modify it with Word, the XHTML gets lamed by Word.

But did you know that by just renaming the file, for example in order to use it as a template, the XHTML gets completely fucked up by Windows XP? No need even to open the file or to send it. Just rename it and Windows XP will lame it (capitalising all tags, inserting unwanted tags as the infamous MSHTML, altering the right line-breaks in the &style& section, etc).

The brilliant result is that Internet Explorer cannot correctly display an HTML document once it has been lamed, of course without asking, by Windows XP.

Well this is the case. Just try it. Get a good valid HTML file and rename it: it is fucked up. Maybe next Windows will reach new heights by doing this monstrosity during a simple copy operation.

Hope you can spread the word.

Norton does suck...on startup norton keeps opening a "WINDOWS INSTALL" asking me to install it when in fact..its already there...it randomly started saying that I am not the administrator...which alos means it restricts me from the options menu..and thats just my corporate edition..for viruses...my norton internet security (just resently installed) prompts that i am not the admininistrator...and wont let me turn the internet security to "enable", and all the setting buttons are "grey" meaning i cannot click them... and whenever i try to do a norton comp scan it starts the "evil install" and lags my comp into a "not responding" so i cant in fact do a scan...my adaware...which i thought was my savior..now does not work like it used to....and my STOPZILLA popup blocker ...has yet to block ANY popups in a while.. (spyware killed it, i think) Now...i search forumns and Q/A websites for a answer to my problem...and any free info on the "WINDOWS UPDATE SCANDLE" <--where they steal info from your comp without asking..not even in the fine print does it tell you that they are in fact "stealing your ideas program information, maybe even inventions from right under your noses." Now that is the longest quote i have ever writen... I am now saving up for a nice LINUX <--going to see if it is not as bugged. MY HYPOTHESIS ON WINDOWS - "A expensive way to steal information ideas and time from the hearts of humans..and some smart apes... microsoft and windows make spyware to keep every other computer on the planet just under what theirs are..so they can allways control us... I believe in fact the government has yet to show us the full technology of computers that they are using to keep us in 2nd place... I am really looking forward to someone stealing governemnt hardware from a governemtn building...(maybe underground to be a cooler story)...and spread the info of my hypothosis being 76% true...yes...thats right...76%... i am only a 15 year old that is still in the 10th grade and is PISSED that he cant play Counterstrike without some lame ass prompt telling me some bulls#&@% that is an excuse for me not getting a Headshot... I am hoping someone reads this and sends me some a email that tells me that they completely understand what i am saying...and gives me further info on this topic..THANK YOU!!!!!. (ill give free gmail invites..if my gmail works)

If anyone can honesty stand up and say their Widows machine has run for a) more than 6 months, b) they do more than use it for e-mail, c) they have never installed anything except for office, d) they have used linux / os x and prefer windows, hats off to you. For the rest of us real world users, windows is a major pain in the ass. As I write this, I'm formatting my Dell Desktop cause lame ass Windows just refused to boot today! And don't say its because I'm some nood. I'm a MSCE CERTIFIED technician, which means I know just a little about windows, but that doesn't mean its going to work any better for me than anyone else. Oh, and as a side comment to whoever thought you could recompile the windows kernel... GET A FUCKING LIFE!!!
