Montreal in the summer

One thing that really boggles my mind is the number of out of town university students who come to Montreal for school and then go back home every summer.

I understand that it's nice to go back home and see your friends and family, but you are missing out on what makes Montreal a truly first class city if the majority of your time here is in the cold winter.

Montreal's summertime weather is awesome (if occasionally a little too hot). The park on the mountain comes to life with the Tam-Tams, frisbee and some serious lazing about. Then there's the jazz festival, the fringe festival, Just for Laughs festival, and a film festival or two.

Conclusion: if you go to school in Montreal then you owe it to yourself to spend at least one summer here. Otherwise you'll never really know the full splendiferousness of the city where you went to school. Heck, spending a summer or two here might even convince you that this is where you would like to settle down (and you're gonna have to think about that sooner or later).
