Good free explosion animations
A while ago I went searching for a good way to make some more explosion animations to add to my online risk game. Here's what I found.Somebody made an explosion generator to aide him in modding quake. It's called lhfire. Here's a link to the current build or the download page if that doesn't work. Look for an lhfire download on the page. On Mac OS X 10.3 it compiled beautifully just typing 'make'. Then use it as a command line program to feed explosions scripts into.
It creates frame-by-frame explosions in a few different formats. I was able to string all of the frames into one file by using the awesomely powerful imagemagick.
There is another explosion generator to be found care of Positech Games. It gives an exe that won't run on macs so I haven't tried it.
