Widget 'ake a look at that
There's a neat hack here to get your Dashboard widgets to float on your desktop without having to actually open Dashboard, thus:
The only bug is that the widgets float on top of everything, so unless you've got some small ones you can't generally leave them 'out' of the Dashboard permanently. But if you're, say, writing something (as I often do), and want easy access to the dictionary/thesaurus, it's easy as pie to take it out for the duration and put it away again afterwards.
(You can undo the hack by typing the same terminal command with 'NO' at the end instead of 'YES'.)
All the Windows users are now either very jealous or very bored.
