One of the big unexplained phenomenon left in physics is the fact that galaxies spin faster their mass says they should. This has been explained by postulating the existence of some kind of dark matter that is actually responsible for ~90% of the mass in the galaxy. On the other hand, another possible explanation for the discrepancy is that we still don't have the law of gravity figured out. This theory is known as Modified Newtonian Dynamics.
