panther 7B59

Today I installed the newest seed version of panther (a.k.a. the next version of the MacOS operating system). The first thing I noticed was that they changed the music for the "Welcome, Bienvenue, ..." opening screen. In the panther preview given out at WWDC the song was Sofa Rockers off of 'The K&D Sessions (Disc 2)'. K&D is Kruder & Dorfmeister, a most excellent DJ duo. It's interesting that while at the Apple campus bash during WWDC during the break in the live music the techs were playing some of Dorfmeister's solo stuffs (under the DJ name of Tosca). Go download the song Eastwest if you haven't heard any of their work. I don't know what the new music is.

Of course that's really not that big a part of the OS. Panther also includes many cool things that actually make a difference. I'm still playing around. My main purpose in having a panther installation on my computer is to test out Lux under it. Right now Lux works except the board drawing is royally screwed up. The problem lies with the clipping regions when drawing the texture for the country foregrounds. The problem must be fixed before Apple ships panther to customers, otherwise I will receive a bevy of complaints.
