spell checking packs

All of Apple's applications have spell checking built in, which works wonders. I get misspelled words underlined in red while I type this now in Safari.

I think that Apple should add 'spell check packs' every once in a while to update for new words. It wouldn't have to happen very often, maybe once a year, but it would serve to keep people constantly pleased with the spell checker.

In order to be smart the spell checker should contain dictionary words as well as any proper names that will be typed a lot. Especially in high tech, words seem to be added to those definitions pretty fast.

Testing shows currently the spell checker has: quicktime, bluetooth, firewire, Microsoft, netscape, Hewlett-Packard, and compaq.

But it lacks: weblog, meme, slashdot or metafilter.

Those are some words that will get typed a lot on the web and in emails. Adding new words like this quickly would be very cool. And it could probably work within the existing Software Update framework.
