Mr. Show gets fired
Well I love the Mr. Show on HBO and hope it will be produced again someday -- I thought of this idea for a Mr. Show concept / sketch idea last year, but finally wrote it up on 2/4/03. Hope you like it.Mr. Show concept / sketch idea
HBO wants to fire Bob and David, but they like the idea / concept of Mr. Show and have a lot invested in it. Also the executives love the signage for the show.
So they decide to hire a new team of Bob and David (that way they can keep all the promotional stuff going ie .. “the Brand”).
So now the interviewing begins ... except in the sketch, Bob and David play the HBO executives interviewing their own replacements ...
And on another twist, the replacements are really named Bob and David -- like Bob Dole and David Hasselhoff, or Bob Newhart and David Ducovney, etc...
Also Bob and David want their jobs back so they pretend to be different Bob and David’s or maybe just switch identities -- or maybe they try and partner up with another person and talk bad about the other one behind their back ...
The sketch lends itself to Bob and David playing several parts and also different parts of the sketch can blend into the next scene, as is a favorite technique of Mr. Show.
