Putin is evil You've probably heard about the rigged Ukrainian election that happened recently. What isn't getting a lot of press is the fact that Russia pretty much officially supported it. And they are doing the same thing in a bunch of other countries that they border.
The real thing that gets my goat about such things is that the rest of the world just bats their eyelashes at this. The linked article mentions how the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has agreed to not even bring up anything related to these Russian actions in advance of their upcoming meeting. I'm all for supporting democracy. I happen to think that we should be doing it everywhere.
Blech. I just noticed that the article I linked requires registration. I hate that shit. I found it on google news. Seems if you go to it from there no reg is required.

I can't figure it out for this one, but there was a link to the Miami Herald I used a few weeks ago that just required a little tinkering to let people read it without registering. | | |
Yeah, I looked for such a link from google news, but no dice. Seems like they just match up based on the referrer (which gets bandied about in all web requests).
