Wireless problems under Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger - Solved! AFter upgrading to OSX 10.4 I was having some problems connecting to my wireless network. Whenever I opened my laptop it would drop the wireless connection to the router. Disabling the password on the network made it work, but I didn't really want to leave it like that. After a bit of searching I found a MacFixIt forum thread talking about the problem. Creating an entirely new network location and configuring it with the password has now solved the problem for me.
After the 10.4.1 upgrade my battery indicator has started to work properly again. So my two big tiger annoyances have now been killed off. Huzzah!
3 comments ug, looks like I spoke too soon about the battery indicator problem. It works sometimes, but sometimes it just sits there without updating and then my powerbook turns off when the battery runs out, without giving the normal warning notice.
My powerbook running 10.3 has gotten to the point where it won't open google or half a dozen different sites--consistently now for several weeks. I'm using a different search engine and if I really need to go to a site Safari won't open I access it via dial up (which still works fine)
If you're having problems with your broadband that go away when you use dial-up then the problem is most likely with your broadband ISP.
