Strategic voting

Interesting blog post here about how to do it. I found it interesting, anyway... It might be rather basic to more politically-minded types. As a supplement, here is CBC's list of Quebec ridings.

I have to get myself on the electoral list soon...

Fortunately, almost every riding in Montreal is so lopsided that it doesn't matter who you vote for. Unless you live in Outremont, Papineau, or Verdun, strategic voting is 100% pointless.

Also, political parties that get subsidized per vote, as long as they get at least 2%. So if you have no other reason to vote, vote for the party that you want to donate $1.50 per year in tax money to. Or don't vote, and demand that the government send $1.50 to our crumbling hospitals.

Well, that's what I understood the article to be saying. That is, vote strategically if it will make a difference, which you determine by looking at previous election results; otherwise vote for whoever you want to give money to.

Also bear in mind that Strategic Voting can be really tricky and by its nature sort of prevents major change...
