Ride the Skytrain and get off at random to wander around. Explore the commercial alleys downtown, and the service alleys in the residential areas. Ride the Seabus and explore the North Shore. Go as far as you possibly can on a random bus. I'd say that Commercial Dr. Is probably the best place to live In the city. But I have a secret for you, There's an aread of hastings, just east Nanaimo St. That's not scuzzy, and it's still hell of cheap. You can like, rent a house and stuff. And it's got plenty of shops, and you can get to both the highway, and downtown in minutes. Don't ever settle for a basement. I don't know that basements are like in other cities but think about how much it rains here. Basements are for storing vegetables, not people.    → comment by Graeme on January 20, 2006
