Soda Montreal Is anyone going to see shows at Pop Montreal? I recognize very few band names. Any recommendations?

i'm going to Akron/Family, Beirut/ born ruffian at Le National with a couple of peeps. Saturday night. 15$. wanna come?
fuck! i thought i made this comment yesterday but Bryan I'd super-doubly recommend the Basia Bulat show. She's one of my absolute favourite discoveries of the year. (Her album is really fucking wonderful, but unfortunately I can't share anything from it; it's not coming out for a while.) A starling voice and songs that are part glimmer and part ratatat. Never seen her live, but yeah - folk stuff with drums and some cello and maybe even an autoharp. highly recommended.
and that A/F, Beirut, BR show will be crazy! Akron/Family are, uh, artier/nosier than you might expect, but pretty much compelling, non-stuffy, funny, beautiful performers. and beirut! that'll be awesome. (and dan-buzz on Born Ruffians is v good.)
have a ton of fun. | |
oh and i mean i'd doubly recommend it for *you*.

I checked out Basia Bulat last night. T'was good! Too bad the audience talked through her set. (and the previous set.) She brought a drummer, a violinist, a violaist (word? word!) and a guy who played different things.
