Broken Trees in Stanley Park

Vancouver has been hit by a couple of big storms recently, and a lot of trees in Stanley Park have been knocked down. I went to check it out with a friend and here are some pictures:

That is crazy. The weather patterns have been wild lately. What should we be doing to protect ourselves, communities, and wilderness for the future? Anything?

p.s. Those white spots in the second photo must be the tree fairies leaving their homes to find new ones.
