The Canadian politics weblog continues

I made some additions to Blog For Canada today. The sections now each have their own spiffy icons. There is also a mission statement. I am, however, not the greatest writer, so comments are welcome. There is already one random internet personality who has been attracted enough to post some of his thoughts. Hurrah for him. In order to attract more people the word needs to get out further.

So I have a little request for everyone who reads this. If you have a website or a weblog then please post a link to blogforcanada.com from it. It would be tremendously appreciated.

The thing about random people from the internet writing about politics is that they tend to be morons. The main topics that I have seen:

(1) "X is part of a federal government conspiracy"
(2) Thoughtful post followed by a comment that reads "*Bleep* you, you *bleep*ing *bleep*-face."
(3) Infinite arguments about whether someone is faking different entries, posting comments agreeing with himself, posting articles just to stir things up, being accused of being a fascist for criticizing other people's posts, etc.

It's pretty hard to discuss politics intelligently on the internet.

Dustin can compensate for that. Alternet is a good example. It's a list of interesting articles that gets new material daily. Some of the articles are clear left wing propaganda, but there are a few gems. You can browse all the articles at your leisure, and the most interesting ones are posted on the main page. My Alternet favourite article to read is The Fog of War Talk - it's on Bush's use of doublespeak regarding the war in Iraq.

I really like the Canada blog website, Dustin. You should link to it at the top of sillytech.

Cheers, James

Just in case anyone didn't know, that would have been on tangmonkey.com, the internet's hot cousin.

It is true that lots of people are morons, and many of them have opinions. But I'm a moron too, and possible you.

Morons should have just as much say as anyone else. And it enough traffic starts coming then all the moronic stuff will not be displayed on the front page.
