SJC Theatre for Debt Cancellation March 14

SJC volunteers will perform an interactive dinner theatre piece about globalization and the causes and effects of “Third World” debt on Sunday, March 14, at the restaurant Puca Puca.

I'm interested, but nervous about going alone. Anyone up for it?
Details:

The piece, one of a number of events the SJC is presenting to mark the 60th anniversary of the IMF and the World Bank, will allow audience members to experience some of the history of those institutions and the effects of their policies on the world’s poor. It will start off, however, as a banquet in honour of two ghosts of globalizations past, Christopher Columbus and Queen Victoria. Those in attendance at the banquet will sit at tables representing different countries, and will have the chance to actively play roles as people from those countries- though that will not be obligatory.

The basic price is $13, which pays both for the performance and for supper. Be warned, though- some people will get less to eat than others, just like in the real world. Further contributions will be welcomed, and will go to fund the work of the SJC.

Puca Puca serves fine Peruvian food (there is a vegetarian option), and is located at 5400 St. Laurent Street, near St. Viateur, served by the 53 bus. It is also about a 15 minute walk from Laurier metro station.

Please call the SJC at 933-6797 to make reservations. For more information, please call the SJC or email Paul Beaulieu at pinadeau@planet-save.com.
