| Blogging the Indie Games Con (IGC) 2004 in Eugene, OregonI arrived today in Eugene, Oregon, a few days before the start of the 2004 IndieGamesCon. It looks like it will be a really fun and informative conference. The fact that it is targeted towards independent game developers (i.e. me) means that I am confident it will be well worth it.
The sessions are divided into a few different 'tracks'. The business and hands-on tracks are the ones I am most interested in. Sessions that pique my interest:
Unfortunately some of them conflict, bah! Oh well, life ain't perfect. Starting up a Game Studio
 Marketing Your Game
 Effective Developer Agreements
 Ruthlessly Committed to Fun
 Surviving as an Indie
 Remote Team Management
 Indie PR

I am still a conference newbie. This will be my second one ever (with the 2003 WWDC being the first - and I think this will be quite different). Here are my goals for the con (in no particular order):
There is a Show-Off center with a bunch of computers that anybody can install their games onto for people to test out (I think that's how it works). I hacked up a special IGC build of Lux to do just that. Hopefully its fancy-pants icon will draw some people to it. Meet other people in the indie games business (in real-life form). Hopefully involving some sort of 'networking' of the social kind.
Learn helpful stuffs about how to continue the growth of my empire.
Show off Lux to everyone possible (I wonder if any media-types are going to be there?).
Take some pictures with my new digital camera (weeee!).

Yeah, so the conference doesn't actually start until Friday. Happily my hotel (you could also refer to it as a motel I suppose) comes with free DSL in the room. It also has a fridge, so I went to a grocery mart and bought a bunch of foodstuffs for the week. So far so good. I am lying on the bed right now tapping this out on my laptop. I don't even have a shirt on! What are you wearing?

Sounds like you're going to have fun. Hurray! And learn stuff. Also hurray!

Oh, the owner of the web service thing I posted said he played Lux and found it fantastic. I don't know if he registered or not.
