Star Wars

I saw Star Wars episode 3 yesterday. Here's my review:

Mediocre. Not as good as people have been saying it was. Not awful though.

The movie left me unsatisfied as well. Here is my analysis of problems:
The combination of bad acting and bad writing left little room for pleasurable watching. To be clear: Hayden Christenson is an absolutely horrible actor who cannot convey a single thought or feeling well. His character's emotional journey, the plot of the entire 6-logy of movies, is all boiled down to a couple frowns and "Yes Master"'s.
Ewan McGregor, an actually decent actor, was left with crappy dialogue and, of course, the aforementioned partner in this dialogue. The one positive aspect of the acting was the surprsingly good performance of Palpatine. His slithery voice and surrepticious words really would lead a confused boy to give up everything he knows.
The other main problem of the movie was that we knew every single thing that had to happen before the movie ended. The first two prequels could go at whatever pace they want, but this movie had to cover every bit of ground leading up to episode 4. Thus there were absolutely no surprises. The only redeeming factor of this point is that the things that had to happen were all very cool in concept. Its what you've been really wanting to see the whole time. I mean, who the hell cares about little Anny's pod race, or if Count Dooku lives or dies, JUST SHOW US VADER!

Overall score: 3 out of 10. One for Vader, one for Yoda, and one for Samuel L. Jackson who would kick my ass if I didn't give him a point.
Overall score: 3 out of 10.

I dont think you can blame this on Christiansen... George Lucas is just an awful director and he's never been able to capture a single dialog scene in any of his movies.

I summed up EPIII in the following way: If the scene has a weapon, or a machine (I'm thinking vehicle / droid) in it, then it is an awesome scene. If it doesn't, then it is a shitty scene.

It really pissed me off how Sam Jackson died. I mean he's got the emperor by the throat with a sabre and he has to first declare that hes going to kill him (slowly), and then he has to raise his sabre (SLLLLLLOWLLLLY) to take him out. I mean why not just STICK'EM ALREADY!!!

the fighting scenes were awesome tho...

I was also pissed off how Sam J's jedi backup squad died so quickly. They were fricken jedi masters, why didn't they block the first lightsaber thrust coming their way?!?!

Speaking of the script, I found this monologue a little out of place.

I like George Lucas a lot. Another collaboration with the other cast of star wars is a must see movie. I have to give my hats off to the Darth Vader and Company. They have been making waves in the box office lately.
