Question Answerer 2 Have a question? Put it in the email body and send it to q@askforcents.com (leaving the subject line blank) and you'll get an answer. Actually, you'll get at least 2 answers. And you'll usually get them in mere seconds. This forms the alpha testing of a service Ask For Cents, clearly meant to have a cost associated with it eventually.
I had a lot of fun asking random questions. About how the service works, tech questions, what the future holds, social policies, love tips, and more. The answers I got back ranged from funny to informative to literal to snooty to wrong. It's like a magic 8 ball, except you get a real human answer. Try it out now while it's free.
The service is run by Amazon.com's Mechanical Turk service. It allows computers to send work packets to humans to be filled in exchange for money. Pretty awesome idea IMHO. Answerers are currently making 3 cents per question, but inform me they are hoping for more valuable ones in the future.

Hi, I'm the developer of AskForCents. I came across this post while doing a blogsearch.
My apologies to Mariana - our systems were temporarily down this morning. Such is the craziness of alpha testing. But, everything is up and running now, so I hope you'll try it out.
At this point we are trying to test our systems, so the more questions the better, but please no random words or script generated questions.
Holy crap, this is the best toy ever!
Whoa! Thanks for the reply AskforCents person! I will try again.
This is pretty fun. The best answers have been about gift ideas and places to visit. Of course, they can't all be gold (best restaurants in Montreal were: Annie's in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue and 2=1 Pizza) but by and large the answerers are certainly earning their 3 cents.
Q: How would you describe the Kelly Clarkson song "Since U Been Gone", if you were to describe it as if it were a fish?
A: Flatfish | |
2=1 Pizza!?! That place is r*tarded, the name makes no sense!
Hey developer guy, I got this in a bounce back: Parse error: parse error, unexpected '\"' in /var/www/askforcents.com/Cliaview.class.php on line 296
Chrono is apparently not a spice girls fan. "When 2 become 1..."
Thanks for pointing out the email bounceback. We've fixed the problem. Hopefully we'll work out all these alpha-test kinks soon.

Q: If you had to hunt for Osama bin Laden in the tribal regions of Western Pakistan with a television B-list celebrity, which television B-list celebrity would you choose?

"How many types of cancer is there?"
Quick answer: How many body parts do you have?
Cancer occurs when cells divide uncontrollably due to damage to genes which control the process of cell division. All the cells in your body have the same genetic material (save your gametes which have only half) and so can be induced to become cancerous. Some cells are more vulnerable than others because of location and function. Some cells would require quite a bit of fiddling to become cancerous.
"how do you ask a question on this website?"

3. What kinds of governments do the nations of South Asia have?
Bad ones. | |
7. What languages are spoken in India and why?
To answer the second part of your question, languages are spoken in India for the same reason they are spoken in most places: for ease of communication. For instance, it is easier to ask for a glass of worder by using spoken words than, for instance, pointing to a water faucet. For more information, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Keller

Do we breath nitrogen or oxygen more?
There is more nitrogen in the air than oxygen so you could say that we breathe nitrogen more. However, hemoglobin molecules on our red blood cells take oxygen out of the lungs and bring it into the blood. So the gas we're really trying to get is oxygen (and also dispose of carbon dioxide).

What are the teeth desighned for grinding food
Hmm... This is a trick question, Gil. It depends on whether you believe that teeth were designed or if they evolved. The less controversial answer is the teeth of a manual grinder. They were definitely designed to grind food.
