25.74 < 20 in the Sillysoft store  Here's a nasty screenshot of CafePress rejecting my coupon. My order total is $25.74, but the coupon is only good for $20. Is that a user-friendly promotion or what?
This was taken in the Sillysoft Store, while sending out Lux gear as prizes. The independent TorStar Store also has some funky Lux goods (including the Luxtoberfest hoodie that I am wearing right now).

| Yes, I realize they're not including the shipping price. It doesn't make it any better. Imagine if they counted shipping in the total - I would be singing their praises. Instead I'm annoyed by them enough to post my negative feelings. It's the difference between treating your customer like a king, or treating him like every other giant nameless company does. Here are 2 extra reasons why this stuck in my craw enough to blog it:
After every purchase, cafepress tries to get you to send coupons to your friends. That's what this coupon was. The email that gets sent has the coupon code hidden in the bottom, below some ad shite. They've taken a good idea of people spreading the word, but their implementation of it is utter crap.
If the owner of this cafepress store (me) would have added 2 dollars extra to the markup on a product, then the coupon would have worked. Plus I would have made 2 extra dollars on the sale. The only reason the coupon was rejected was because I haven't marked up the prices on items. I only realized this afterwards, but if I have to order more stuff and have another coupon I might do it. Increasing my prices by 2 dollars will save me 7, but only because they have an arbitrary coupon policy. Me increasing the markup wouldn't make them any more money, but they would have taken the coupon then. It's non-sensical. | | |
