One Less Thing to Carry

Ok, I'm officially having a nerdgasm.

Readdle is a website that will store uploaded text files in a variety of formats and re-display them to you in the browser.

Why would you want to do this? Well, I recently got my grubby little mitts on an iPod Touch (I have to admit, it's been life altering) which comes with a web browser. So:

1) Make account on Readdle.
2) Grab any books from Project Gutenburg.
3) Upload them to your readdle account.
4) Login to the website via the Touch.
5) Choose a book.
6) Start Music.
7) Sit on bus and read. (Once the page is rendered, you no longer need to maintain the wi-fi connection.)
8) Achieve nerdvana.

Hey, I just bought an iPod Touch too! And it is life-altering! And this is a great tip!

Have you done anything about the shocking lack of Mail support, or are you content to do without it?

I mostly use gmail so the Touch handles it just fine. I don't find much use for Mail on my MacBook. I've only started using the Address Book for sending out xmas cards (great label printer).

I imagine you've already found iSquint for converting videos.

I'll admit to spending a couple evenings searching out album art just to make cover flow look good.

Yes, I think a comprehensive album art search is on my to-do list for the holidays....

Have you had a good look through the online manual, yet? I keep accidentally discovering features, which makes me think I should. But 80 pages! Yeesh.

The fastest way to fill my album art was through wikipedia. They typically had 300x300 art and when that fell through, a google image search always worked out just fine.

As for the manual, I found that just exploring all the buttons in the interface was good enough for me. I did find the manual afterwards and it didn't tell me much I hadn't discovered on my own. The 80+ pages isn't all that intimidating. It's like a high school term paper: large font, huge margins and lots of pictures.
