a Lux review from download.com

When the Windows version of Lux came out I ponied up the 80 bucks (US) it costs to get listed on the www.download.com website. Today I went and looked and saw that they had reviewed me. It's not that long so I'm going to repeat it here for the ages.

If you've ever played the classic strategy board game Risk, Lux will immediately ring a bell. Your mission is to attack your enemies' countries while protecting your own territory from invasion, with the end goal being total world domination. Though you can choose from a variety of preset boards, including classic Risk, the game claims to automatically generate billions of custom boards. In terms of graphics and sound, Lux is rather primitive and probably won't impress avid gamers. Despite that, this deceptively simple title is highly addictive and quite challenging, even with the easiest computer partners. You can face up to five opponents, or you can play against a warm body online. However, in our tests, we only saw one online game, and we suspected a robot was behind it. Lux gives you a great deal of customization options, allowing you to change such variables as difficulty level, world size, opponent speed, and attacks per click. Though we think many folks will have fun with this game, fans of Risk will be especially enamored.

So I thought it was pretty good overall. The "only saw one game online" bit is annoying. I bet they only tried it once. Right now (10:30 EST, decent time slot) I see 7 people playing. You'd be surprised at how hard it is to get your product reviewed. I only got one here because I paid them some $$$.
