Feeling listless?I actually got something interesting sent to me from an improv mailing list I signed up for. An eye quote:************************************ One of my favorite Story-Telling Exercises is the 7-line story exercise. Basically, you have the whole group tell a story going one line at a time and in the following format: 1) Once upon a time... 2) And every day... 3) Until one day... 4) And Because of that... 5) And Because of that... 6) Until Finally... 7) And ever since that day... I then ask them to break popular stories or movies into a seven line story and it works about 95 percent of the time. 1) Once upon a time...there was a young farmer boy 2) And every day...he helped his uncle owen 3) Until one day...Imperial stormtroopers killed his family 4) And Because of that...he left his home planet 5) And Because of that...he joined the rebellion 6) Until Finally...he led the the rebellion to destroy the Empire 7) And ever since that day...he has been a hero for the rebellion It's a great exercise to show the introduction of a state of balance, then setting it off balance, and then finding the new state of balance. Very, very helpful exercise! *************************************
